Abyss at a Loss Technical difficulties seem to be
multiplying here at the Millennial Abyss as the service which
supports a large number of the site's subsections recently
relocated and has complicated its user restrictions. As a
result, you may now regularly find many of the sidebar links will
not deliver you to the desired subsection. Obviously,
this situation is intolerable. I'm currently
investigating what can be done so that the Abyss' continually
expanding content will always be available to visitors with no
fuss. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
If anyone has any suggestions regarding site storage, feel
free to drop me a note.
Thank you.

Download Death Fans fond of seeing Lance
Henriksen in hardcore horror films can now get their hands on
his latest work,
Michael Hamilton-Wright's Mangler 2. "Lance was
great," director Hamilton-Wright recently told Fangoria
magazine. "He loved the script. It's a kind of
character I don't believe he's played before." Lance
portrays Badian, strict headmaster of a technologically
endowed private school suddenly overcome by a vicious computer
virus. Various reviews have revealed that the film is,
as expected, mostly senseless horror fare but that Henriksen's
performance is remarkable and truly the high point of the
film.
Mangler 2 is now available on video and DVD.

Spotnitz Enters into Ether Ten-Thirteen Productions President
Frank Spotnitz, best known for his constant work on The
X-Files, is preparing to make the jump to the big screen
once that series reaches its end this spring. Spotnitz
has signed on to write and direct a pair of supernatural
thrillers for Dimension Films. The first of the two,
Into the Ether, tells the story of a medical resident who
begins a hospital investigation when patients begin dying
regularly through unnatural means. Frank Spotnitz served
as a co-producer on Millennium during its three season
run and wrote several prominent episodes including "Weeds" and
"Sacrament," as well as "TEOTWAKI," "Antipas," and "Seven and
One" with Chris Carter. Visit the
Sci-Fi Wire or

Skin Deep Creative downloads related to
Millennium are, unfortunately, just as rare here on the
internet as material related to the series is in the real
world.
The Millennium

skin for use with the WinAmp media player which is still online and available
for download. If you regularly use WinAmp and wouldn't
mind having Frank Black stare back at you from the interface

They Control the Transmission There is continued good news for
international fans of Millennium and further bad news
for viewers in the United States. First, the bad news.
The FX website has
recently pulled Millennium's title from its list of programs. This fits with the fact that Millennium
has been absent from the cable network's schedule for several
months now. U.S. fans eager to see the show again can only hope FX decides to
auction the exclusive syndicated rights for the series to
another cable network soon. The good news overseas is that
Sci-Fi UK has decided that
following the end of season three's current run they will
begin to air the first season in its entirety in the same
regular timeslot, Tuesdays at 9pm. Meanwhile, up north,
Canada's Scream channel
is so pleased with Millennium thus far that they've assured
fans they intend to show the series once again, in its
entirety, once the current run is complete. The series
airs on Scream every weeknight at 9pm. As always, the
latest listing of showings is available in the
Abyss
airdates section and I encourage you to
contact FX with your
thoughts on the show's fate.

Souvenir of the Inquisition Looking to own a piece of movie
history directly connected with our favorite leading man?
The Henriksen family is auctioning off the four by seven foot
Banner of the Inquisition seen prominently accompanying Lance in 1990's
The Pit and the
Pendulum. Die hard Henriksen fans will
immediately recognize the item. An embroidered design made in Rome,
this one of a kind film prop was given to Lance Henriksen following his
work on the film by director Stewart Gordon. After more
than a decade Lance is looking to part with the item. Less than a
day remains on the auction so click your way to
eBay and have a look at the details immediately if
interested.

He'll Be Back? Lance Henriksen was most recently
spotted attending the premiere of Arnold
Schwarzenegger's
latest flick, Collateral
Damage. This gave
TheArnoldFan.com's
Randy Jennings an opportunity to ask Lance a few questions
concerning his connections to the Terminator franchise.
Henriksen clarifies he was not at all disappointed when he
first heard he was to be replaced by
Schwarzenegger as
the Terminator. "Cameron just wanted to do the sketches
of Lance as a Terminator and to have the cyborg with a look
like Henriksen," Jennings reports. "Lance claims he was
really never seriously considered to play the part of the
Terminator." Instead,
Henriksen portrayed a police officer in 1984's The
Terminator. It's possible we may see him appear to
reprise his role in the upcoming Terminator 3! "As
James Cameron had helped as an additional writer to the T3
script, Henriksen informed me Cameron was toying around with
the idea of having Detective Vukovich return in a wheelchair
with some battle damage. As we never do see Detective Vukovich
die, but only rather an implied death, many Henriksen fans
would love to see a return." Visit the
original article for further comments and a photo of Lance
and his lovely wife at the Collateral Damage premier.

An Abyss Birthday It's February once again, time to
recognize the annual anniversary of this website's creation.
This month marks the start of the Millennial Abyss' fifth year
on the world wide web. The site was created and first
uploaded during Millennium's first season, back in
1997. I'm proud to be able to continue providing
visitors with creative material and current information
connected with the series. In recent weeks the number of
visitors this site regularly receives has increased to reach
an all time high. Thank you for your continued support!
With such enthusiasm for the series still running strong in
this community and despite an uncertain future for what
remains of the series, the Abyss is living proof that
Millennium is in no danger of being forgotten.

Cable Citations Several recent films featuring
former Millennium cast members are currently hitting cable
television for the first time. Fans should keep an eye
out for brief appearances by Terry O'Quinn (Millennium's
Peter Watts) in the 2001 western American Outlaws.
Talented young actress Brittany Tiplady (Millennium's Jordan Black) can be seen in
The Pledge, a crime drama starring Jack Nicholson and
directed by Sean Penn, currently showing on
Cinemax and its offshoot channels. Additionally, Lance Henriksen
will be, as usual, popping up in a number of constant cable
appearances including the science fiction thriller No
Escape, showing tonight at 9:00pm on the
Sci-Fi Channel.
Keep your eyes peeled always while perusing the television

Future Fantastic Amidst a sea of fan speculation,
in the wake of Chris Carter's announcement that The X-Files
will soon be coming to an end, a rather bizarre report has been
circulating X-Files newsgroups purporting that the next
television project on the Ten-Thirteen slate will be a
re-imagined version of Millennium. The absurd
article, written as if it were an Associated Press report,
would be enough to bring any dedicated Millennium fan
to tears if it were factual in nature. The text suggests
Carter's new televised work would haphazardly combine
characters and themes from both The X-Files and
Millennium to create a ludicrous new science fiction series.
Fortunately, there are more than enough obvious clues in this
outrageous article, not the least of which are several direct
references to the failed NBC series
SeaQuest 2032, to prove it is a humorous hoax. In the interests of dispelling
brewing rumors and providing Abyss readers with a good chuckle
I've posted the
false Associated Press report online. Read the
report, enjoy it for the joke it was intended to be, and count your blessings that Frank Black will not be
returning in such a context.

Syndicated Sales Pitch Variety reported recently
that the FX cable network is preparing to offer reruns of
The X-Files to competing cable networks. Variety
notes, "Representatives for X-Files creator-producer
Chris Carter, a profit participant, made it known to Twentieth
[Television] that they thought it would be worthwhile to test
the marketplace in the event that another network might be
eager to pony up a bigger license fee than the $600,000 an
episode being shelled out by FX for The X-Files."
Sources indicate both TNT and the Sci-Fi Channel have placed
offers for The X-Files reruns. FX also currently owns the
syndication rights to all episodes of
Millennium yet
has recently dropped the series from its schedule. It's conceivable
that Millennium could be one of the next shows FX
considers selling to another cable network. Visit
Variety for the complete article.

Case Closed After a nine year run, the series
which put creator Chris Carter and Ten-Thirteen Productions
into the annals of television history is nearing its end.
Carter has announced that The X-Files will air its
final episode this May. "I look at it as the
ninth-inning situation," Carter told reporters. "I'd
rather go out now and celebrate rather than have to make an
announcement in the summer. I want to be able to wrap
things up for the fans who have been there from the beginning
and throughout. My determination was to go out with a
series of very, very strong episodes that are going to pull a
lot of threads together from the last nine years." The
news was reported today by
Variety,
The Hollywood Reporter, and
CNN. Fox Entertainment Television Group chairman
Sandy Grushow noted, "[The X-Files] was instrumental in
putting Fox on the map, plain and simple. It
helped define the network. It alerted the industry to the fact
that we could succeed with a quality drama." After
witnessing the rash and premature cancellation of X-Files
successors such as Millennium, Harsh Realm, and
The Lone Gunmen, the future of Ten-Thirteen Productions
on television
is now uncertain.

Pieces on Pottery While the bulk of the material
relates to his work as an actor and his work on Millennium,
a portion of the recently published Videoscope magazine
interview with Lance Henriksen is devoted to the actor's
passion for pottery. Henriksen has a variety of
fascinating things to say about the unique art form which has
captivated him for years. "Anything
you do beginning with picking up the clay to the end of the
firing can alter the outcome. It's literally recording every
thought, every move you make. It's exquisite, it really is."
As always, pieces of handmade pottery from Lance's collection
are available for perusal or purchase at his
official website. Pick up the
latest issue of
Videoscope for more of the actor's thoughts on his art.

Introspective Insight Millennium fans perusing
magazine racks will find their attention being drawn to the
current issue of the quarterly Videoscope magazine
(Winter 2001/2002). Lance Henriksen is featured
prominently on the cover for the issue contains a lengthy
in-depth interview with the actor. The interview,
conducted by Videoscope columnist Tim Ferrante,
addresses a number of powerful topics related to the way in
which Henriksen views his work on Millennium. "They
never really wanted to show that side," Henriksen commented
when questioned whether or not the character of Frank Black
was truly capable of happiness. "They never wanted that to
happen. You're not seeing him on vacation, you're seeing him
in the midst of a war." Henriksen also seems to agree
with the fans regarding his appearance in The X-Files
crossover episode. "I should have asked [Chris Carter],
'In your life, what is closure?' Because if he means
closure in the respect that no one will ever see me again on
that show, he's right. But in terms of Frank Black, he didn't
do it at all." Be sure to pick up the latest issue of
Videoscope
to read the complete text of this insightful interview. Special thanks
are extended to Tim Ferrante and editor Joe Kane for
providing the Abyss with a sneak preview of the article's content!

The Shadow Knows It has been revealed that
Terry
O'Quinn's guest appearance in "Trust No 1," an upcoming
episode of The X-Files, will definitely not mark the
return of Millennium's Peter Watts character.
Instead, the talented actor will be portraying the Shadow Man,
a mysterious new character. A recent FOX press release
describes the episode's events. "Contacted by a
mysterious man claiming to have information about Mulder and
the super soldiers that drove him into hiding, Scully, Reyes
and Doggett are forced into an awkward situation with the
potential to place Mulder in even more danger. Though
Reyes and Doggett oppose the idea of helping this odd man,
Scully's emotional bonds with the father of her child and her
intense desire to see him once again cause her to momentarily
let her guard down and invite a total stranger into her world
of intense secrecy." This will be O'Quinn's third
appearance in The X-Files universe and this time around
he will be credited as Terrance Quinn. Visit the
official X-Files website or the
X-Files Haven for more information.
The "Trust No 1" episode airs Sunday, January 6, at 9:00pm on
FOX.
