December 24th
Merry Christmas!  Well, that special time of year is upon us!  Angels are everywhere, demons (for the time being) forgotten.  It's a time to cherish our families and our love for each other.  And, this year, the presence of a new millennium lurks just behind the holiday season.   Enjoy your celebrations, the end of the world is nigh!  We've already seen, in The X-Files crossover, that Jordan and Frank will soon be reunited in the wake of the Christmas season... forever.

Realm Return Rumors!  Rumors regarding the return of Harsh Realm are flooding the net.  It all started when the Pixel Envy f/x house announced last Wednesday that they had finished working on the special effects for all eight completed episodes of Harsh Realm.  It now looks as if FX plans to air the series in its entirety, five episodes of which have never been seen before, this coming March.  An unnamed source, claims VFXPro News, states that FX is considering producing new episodes as well, should the ratings warrant it.  How can this be, you ask?  What crazy plan is FOX following this time?  What could this mean for Millennium?  Stay tuned for more news.

Hungry For Fiction?  I've added another piece under the Fiction section.  This one you may have seen before.  Written just about three years ago, while our favorite series was just getting started, "Famished" was the second piece of Millennium fan fiction ever written.  I've spruced it up into an HTML version.  Follow this link to read.  Enjoy!

Site Updates  The Abyss has finally uploaded the start of its Promotional Photo gallery.  The gallery now includes snap shots of Frank, the Black family, Lance Henriksen, and Frank's various partners.  The gallery is a work in progress, so check back often to see what's been added.  I'm also toying with the gallery's set-up, it may switch over to thumbnails in the near future.  Click here to take a look.

See The Others  The look behind Glen Morgan and James Wong's new television series, The Others, is now becoming more evident.  NBC has recently updated their official homepage for the series with a cast photo.  Go take a look!  Word also has it that the two have begun thinking about their next film project, tentatively titled Hangman.  More Morgan and Wong info as it becomes available.

Walk the Mile  Ladies and gentlemen, today's news brief is not a bit of Millennium information but a recommendation for a similair work of art.  I highly encourage you to get to a local theater and catch a showing of The Green Mile.  Frank Darabont has done an absolutely brilliant job of translating Stephen King's heart warming story to the screen.  The film is both terrifying and hope filled at the same time, a genius tale of the human condition filled with religious overtones.  Doug Hutchison (Millennium's Polaroid Man) is chilling as Percy Wetmore.  Take my word, the Millennium fan will love The Green Mile.

Rock On, Ten Thirteen!  The official X-Files magazine reports that Ten Thirteen Productions' next movie may not be what we're expecting.  The magazine tells us, "1013 is also developing a movie about a contemporary rock band. They approached them, and it would be like the dark media satire Network (directed by Sidney Lumet). Carter would produce and possibly write the screenplay."  Fans are beginning to speculate on the group's identity, guessing it may be one of the bands 1013 already has a good relationship with (Foo Fighters/Soul Coughing/Filter).

The End is Here!  It's done and (gasp) it's on time!  The finale to the Abyss' exclusive five part serial novella, "To Paint With Blood and Fire", has been uploaded.  Click here to read the final fireworks between Frank and Tejaf.  Please, once you're done reading send me e-mail feedback.  I'm very concerned with how the climax will be received by you, the fans.  Also, stick with us in the coming weeks.  The Abyss has more fan fiction events planned for the coming Fridays, into the new millennium.  Enjoy!

Here We Go Again!  Twentieth Century Fox Television is turning its eyes from Chris Carter and towards other prospects.  Kim Manners, a veteran producer and director on The X-Files, has signed a multiyear contract to develop new shows for Ten-Thirteen Productions and Twentieth Television.  Dana Walden, Executive Vice President for Twentieth TV, says, "We couldn’t be happier that he has agreed to expand his relationship with Ten Thirteen and feel confident that the collaboration will continue to produce extraordinary results."  Let's hope Kim's new shows are far better received than the late Harsh Realm.

NPR Hasn't Forgotten Millennium  National Public Radio has just uploaded to the net the audio from their December 8th Morning Edition.  Among the segments is a detailed seven minute story on mainstream media and millennialism, beliefs that the end is here come 2000. Millennium receives special mention and some praise.  An expert from the Australian Film Commission is quoted regarding Lara Means' plunge into insanity on the show, stating, "The sequence from Millennium is extraordinary.  It's a retelling of the book of Revelation... being transposed onto what's current in the society... modern revelation of the apocalypse."  You can listen to the entire segment in RealAudio format here, or read the Abyss transcript here.

Big Screen Bad Boy  Doug Hutchison, the talented and terrifying actor who was the only man fitting to portray Millennium's Polaroid Stalker, has a powerful role in the promising new film from the minds of Stephen King and Frank Darabont, The Green Mile.  A visit should be payed to check out Hutchison's biography at the official Green Mile website, where Millennium earns a mention.  The Green Mile, destined to be revealed as a brilliant work of cinema, opens this week at a theater near you.

FOX Puts Out Carter's Fire  It's been announced that Chris Carter and J. Michael Straczynski's joint sci-fi series for CBS, now revealed to be titled The World on Fire, has been pulled to a halt by FOX.  Straczynski recently said, "CBS contacted FOX to arrange for a pilot deal and work out the licensing fee for the new series should the pilot be up to snuff... We were within days of closing the deal... the project is currently in limbo."  Carter's contracts with FOX may restrict the duo's creative possibilities.  For a full article on these events visit Cinescape.

Brimstone returns tonight!  December 3rd marks the premiere of Brimstone in syndication on the Sci-Fi Channel.  Four of the show's episodes will air each Friday night starting at 7pm.  New episodes are planned to air sometime next year, but for now the reruns will have to be enough to hold us over.  Visit Sci-Fi's official Brimstone page for more detailed schedule information.  This moody, well-written, and beautifully acted series should not be missed by any Millennium fan.

Take a look here.  A Millennium series Overview has been added to the episode guide.  A photograph has been added to each individual episode in the guide.  An extensive list of Millennium internet articles is now available under the Essays section.  Lastly, three new advertisements have also been added to the ads gallery.  Enjoy!

Smith's Not Jiggy With It  James Wong made an announcement recently that actor Will Smith is no longer interested in pursuing the millennial script he and Glen Morgan provided the actor.  The Mark, intended to be produced and directed by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich as a big budget blockbuster, had Morgan and Wong writing Smith into the role of a young man destined to single handedly save the world from a deadly prophecy. Wong told the SciFi Channel, "As far as I know, it's pretty much dead.  We wrote a script for it. After we turned in a first draft Will said, 'This is too much like The Matrix right now.'"

MM-TV  Jason Morris and his Red-Cell Entertainment are offering to fans a well produced multimedia CD filled with Millennium computer files. The highlight of the CD is a collection of Millennium music videos, beautifully compiled of the show's best scenes, set to the music of Nine Inch Nails.  I can attest personally to the disc's quality, it's heartily recommended. To learn more about acquiring the CD for yourself, or to view the music video trailer, visit Red-Cell's homepage now.

There Is One Day Remaining  Once again, I seek to prove I am human (ie. I make mistakes).  Due to holiday madness the fourth installment of "To Paint With Blood and Fire" will not appear on this site until early next week.  My sincerest apologies, all you faithful readers will have to keep biting your fingers for a few more days.  What I do have for you is the official FOX TV Guide ad for this Sunday's crossover.  Click here to take a look at it.  Rohan's X-Files Realm has been also updated with full cast info, trailers, photos, everything a Millennium fan could ask for.  Only one more day until we'll get to see Frank Black in action one last time...

The Babylon Files  It appears as if Millennium's Chris Carter and Babylon 5's J. Michael Straczynski aren't willing to stick with the networks that have let them down in the past.  Rumor has it that the two are working together on a new sci-fi drama for the CBS network.  No official news has been released, but Straczynski recently told the Sci-Fi Channel, "There's nothing that I can say about this at this time, but I will be able to say a little more in about a week...all I can say for now is that it is and it isn't what it seems."  More news as it's revealed.

Millennium Meltdown!  The FX network recently made an official press release regarding the nine hour November 28th Millennium marathon.  In addition to confirming the fact that Lance Henriksen will be hosting the network's look at the series' most important mythology episodes FX announced their next marathon. "As we approach the year 2000, this marathon will serve as a kick-off for FX December's Millennium Meltdown, where FX will present 28 episodes of the series over two days (December 31 & January 1)."  It won't get any better than this, folks.  Enjoy December of 1999 while it lasts.

Midnight of the Millennium  Rohan's X-Files Realm is sporting a few more spoilers concerning the November 28th X-Files / Millennium crossover.  Follow the link to hear about the episode's inclusion of FBI suicides and the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.  Just a note to dispell some rumors about the episode being propagated by the occasionally incorrect Internet Movie Database: there have been no indications that either Terry O'Quinn or Megan Gallagher will be appearing in the episode, in flashback mode or otherwise. Chances are we won't be seeing Peter or Catherine again.

Site Updates!  A new section has been added to the Abyss.  You can now read from a collection of critical reviews of Millennium in the Essays section.  Click here to see if the critics recognized Millennium as the brilliant piece of television art and social commentary that it was.

FX Lancethon  Advertisements running on the FX cable network have announced that Lance Henriksen will be hosting the nine hour November 28th Millennium marathon.  Keep an eye on their website for the official announcement.  Lance's introductions should definitely make the marathon a more interesting review.

Smoocheroo  Well, it looks as if Mulder and Scully's first real kiss will dominate the upcoming X-Files episode "Millennium".  Fan sites are already buzzing with spoilers regarding the much anticipated scene.  If you'd like to know how thinks'll happen at midnight on New Year's Eve you can find out from Fandom.com or Rohan's X-Files Realm.

Lance Stabs into Theaters  The official
Scream 3 homepage has been updated and now features mock news articles regarding the focus of the film's plot, the fictional film "Stab 3".  It appears as if Lance Henriksen's role was previously mis-reported.  Lance, listed as a primary cast member, will not be a police detective as was once thought but rather stars as "Stab 3's" producer, John Milton (Paradise Lost, anyone?).  In addition, the Scream 3 trailer has premiered and Lance can be (briefly) seen!  Click here to download the trailer or here to view a screen grab of Lance.

Some Other Time  NBC has announced a premiere date for Glen Morgan and James Wong's new television series, The Others.  The show will air Saturday, February 5th at 10pm, following an episode of Millennium's evil NBC twin, Profiler.  Garth Ancier, President of NBC Entertainment, gives us a glimmer of hope for the new series by stating, "We find ourselves going into January with four dramas that we feel have a long and successful future on our network.  We believe with these moves that all four of these shows are positioned for success. The goal of these changes is to protect and nurture the shows we believe in and to create a flow we hope appeals to our audience." Ultimate TV has an article relating the show's background information at the link provided.  Looks like Morgan & Wong are getting better treatment from NBC than FOX.

Frank Will Survive!  One of the ideas that all Millennium fans have feared about the coming X-Files crossover episode is the fact that Chris Carter's "closure" to our favorite series might include the death of Frank Black.  Fear not.  Chris Carter spoke out recently to alleviate our fears.  When asked in a recent radio interview whether or not the rumors of Frank's death were true Carter responded along the lines of, "[No, they are not true. It's just that we left the character Frank Black with a lot of loose threads, and we hope to resolve some of that.]"  Now let us all breathe a collective sigh of relief.

The Sound of Snow  What's the number one piece of potential merchandise Millennium fans would like to see?  You may be surprised to hear a soundtrack might not be far off.  I've been in contact with representatives of Sonic Images, a record label which recently released "The Snow Files".  This collection of Mark Snow's television and motion picture work contained an extended suite from The X-Files which takes approximately half an hour of the album's over 70 minutes of music.  Sonic Images told the Abyss, "A second volume of music from the composer is being prepared, pending sales on the current release.  Both Mr. Snow and us would like to include a suite of music from the series Millennium on this album.  Watch our website for details in the future."  With any luck, the Millennium suite will last just as long as its X-Files counterpart.  Now get out there and buy "The Snow Files"!!!

Federally Feared Armageddon  The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released to the public a threat assessment entitled Project Megiddo.  To quote the FBI's official description, "It is intended to analyze the potential for extremist criminal activity in the U.S. by individuals or domestic extremist groups who profess an apocalyptic view of the millennium or attach special significance to the year 2000."  This is a fascinating, fascinating piece of reading material with endless connections to the Millennium series.  Take this link and download the report now!  The file is currently in Adobe Acrobat format, but I will be converting it into an Abyss Reality page soon.

Online Flight Plan  A fabulous official website for Glen Morgan and James Wong's new movie has just been put up by New Line Cinema.  Although the site lists the film's working title as Final Destination, Glen and Jim are pushing the studio towards their name, Flight 180.  The recent EgyptAir crash should be fresh in our minds, adding a frightening edge of realism to the film's storyline.

FX Has Millennium Fever  If you liked FX's six hour Millennium Halloween marathon, you're going to love the next 2 months on FOX cable.  To prime X-Philes for the November 28th crossover episode, FX will be hosting a 9 hour Millennium marathon of the series' most essential episodes starting at noon that Sunday.  The line-up has yet to be released by FX and the Abyss is awaiting comment from the network.  In addition, FX has named December "Millennium Month" and is planning some exciting promotions for the coming of the year 2000.  Looks like the series is having more luck and popularity in death than it ever had during its three year run on FOX!

Site Updates  A selection of beautiful Japanese ads for our favorite show have been added to the Gallery's Advertisement section.  Special thanks to our friend nj-optik at Site 2000.

Frank's Gone Mad!  The November 6th issue of TV Guide has been released, and in it The X-Files / Millennium crossover receives some press.  It looks like Frank Black will make his entrance in a most untraditional fashion for a hero. TV Guide states in its Hollywood Grapevine, "November 28 episode 'MillenniuM' the agents find Black (Lance Henriksen) in a psychiatric ward and get him to help solve murders related to the Millennium Group.  This allows Carter to tie up some loose ends left dangling when FOX canned MillenniuM."  Somehow, I feel finding Frank in a psychiatric ward is most original and appropriate.  Let's just pray he receives the proper respect from Mulder, Scully. and The X-Files viewers.

FOX Has a Taste For Blood!  FOX, despite its insane Harsh Realm treatment, seems desperate to find a replacement for The X-Files during the show's last year of life.  Among several other projects, they've come up with one for former Millennium Executive Producer Chip Johanneseen.  Chip has been hired by the network to, alongside fellow 1013 alumni Howard Gordon, create a brand new supernatural series called UltravioletCinescape describes the series as "a sexy vampire soap opera."  Time will reveal the show's quality and potential.

Something or Other  More info is being released by Glen Morgan & James Wong regarding their NBC series The Others, expected to debut in January of 2000.  Glen spoke with the Sci-Fi Channel recently regarding the series, stating he was attracted to it because "there was heart in it, for one. It had a lot of messages of hope."  Glen gives us a brief rundown of the first couple episodes, stating "In the first episode, the Julianne Nicholson character is in college...and in the wallpaper there's a little guy that's watching her.  In the second episode, a guy goes in for laser eye surgery, and he starts seeing winged demons...The third episode is...very much about a wife, her husband, and child, and how The Others kind of hear her message."  For cast infromation, and more of Glen's quotes, visit the Sci-Fi Channel's news page.

Also, I've added a brand new piece to the ESSAYS section.  My analysis of William Butler Yeats' "The Second Coming", featured in Millennium's pilot episode, is here for your review.  Please, feel free to drop me feeback on either of the above mentioned works.  Let me know someone out there is listening.  Enjoy!

Hope Springs Eternal A sorrowful Chris Carter was interviewed last night on Art Bell's "Coast to Coast AM".  Carter and Bell spoke about The X-Files' seventh season, Millennium, and the irrational cancellation of  Harsh Realm.  Although  he revealed little about the upcoming crossover episode, Carter did have this to say when questioned if the passing of the year 2000 would affect the ability to tell Millennium stories in the future: "I'm very curious as to what's going to happen and how it might affect the [telling] of stories."  Perhaps Chris hasn't given up on Frank Black just yet!  If you'd like to listen to the interview in RealAudio, Art's entire October 27th show is available at Broadcast.com.

"The Ruin of the Realm"  Harsh Realm has been cancelled by FOX.  News was released yesterday after only three episodes of the new series had aired.  Both Harsh Realm and Ryan Caufield: Year One presented the network with exceptionally low ratings, far lower than even Millennium's third season had earned, and FOX simply isn't willing to try and fix the rough situation they've created for themselves.  Yahoo News reports "Movies will fill the two-hour slot through November... The replacement series were not announced."  Chris Carter is, understandably, outraged.  "I think in the end it looks rather misguided to have premiered the show without any promotional base, certainly when the reviews of it were good...The viewer-awareness levels were pathetically low."  Carter seemed to have hit the nail on the head when he stated, "I have a feeling we’re a victim of a much bigger problem at FOX."

A More Current Comet  "The Millennial Comet" homepage has undergone some major updates.  By the end of today all back issues and articles through volume three will have been added to the listed content, thus ending a long period of inactivity on the site.  Swing by and have a read.

The Truth is Here  The first official photos  from The X-Files episode "Millennium" have been released by FOX, along with a bevy of new information.  It now looks as if the episode was written by Vince Gilligan and Frank Spotnitz, not Chris  Carter.  Veteran Millennium director Thomas J. Wright will be directing.  The action will stretch from Maryland to Florida and include plenty of "rainy, foggy, misty nightwork."  Information on the episode's  call sheets is available at Rohan's X-Files Realm.  To view a larger version of these promo photos, just click on them.  Is that a bath robe, Frank?

Holy Armageddon Uploads, Batman!  Boys and Girls, do I have a truckload of site updates for you!!!  Slap a grin on yer face and get ready for more Millennium fun than you've ever had on the web!  I don't even know where to begin.  Well... in addition to yesterday's upload of the "To Paint With Blood and Fire" teaser poster, the Old News section has been completely revised and it looks beautiful.  A brand new music section has been added to the Abyss Gallery, and the Links section has undergone its own overhaul adding numerous new pages and sections. Last, but not least, I've put a lot of time and effort into compiling a special art exhibit for you, constant reader.  "Art of the End" is a special Abyss gallery of apocalyptic artwork, both historical and modern, illustrating the end of the world.  Not only will you find several fascinating examples of apocalyptic artwork in this gallery, you'll be given a chance to e-mail the artists (those still alive, heh), links to their own galleries, and a detailed examination of each piece's style and meaning.  Please, take your time in touring the exhibit and let me know what you think.  It's all here to tide you over until the November 28th crossover.  Have fun, you!  :-)

Dixon, this serial novella will only be the first in a long line of serial fiction to be published here on the Abyss.  "To Paint with Blood and Fire's" teaser poster is already available for viewing in the Abyss Fiction section.  Take a look at it here and get yourself psyched for this coming online Millennium event!

Through the Grapevine  Rumors are building concerning the possible plotline of the November X-Files / Millennium crossover.  Fans are spouting various possible advesaries for the team of Mulder, Scully, and Black, ranging from doomsday cults to the Millennium Group to the zombified undead.  Rohan's X-Files Realm is now sporting a page devoted to the crossover filled with information on the November 28th episode.  Take the above link to read the latest, but beware that much of the plot details there are unsupported at this time and  should be considered nothing more than rumors.

FX Tricks and Treats  Despite pulling a fast one on us this past Sunday, airing Toughman World Championship instead of "Loin Like a Hunting Flame", the FX cable network has a real Millennium treat lined up for this Halloween.  In the same spirit as their annual Thanksgiving The X-Files marathon, FX will be running a six hour Millennium Halloween Marathon on the year's spookiest day!  Starting at noon on the 31st we'll see the haunted nature of Frank Black's life in this order: "The Curse of Frank Black", "...13 Years Later", "Blood Relatives", "The Pest House", "Human Essence", and "Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me."  Looks like an occasion to skip some of the annual classic horror movies.

Morgan & Wong & Others  It looks like Glen Morgan and James Wong won't be the only familiar Millennium writers working on their new NBC series (set for a spring 2000 release), The Others.  It's been revealed that the brilliant and Emmy Award winning Darin Morgan is contributing his own bizarre episode to the show as well.  Cinescape Online states Darin's script is "based on a traditional folk tale (known as Gef, the Talking Mongoose) from The Isle Of Man. The subject deals with a poltergeist with abandonment issues."  Millennium's powerful writing team of Kay Reindl & Erin Maher will be adding a story of their own as well.  More Others updates as they are revealed...

Resurrection!  FOX announced yesterday the airdate of the long awaited Millennium / X-Files crossover!  In a press release revealing their fall sweeps plans, FOX announced that The X-Files episode "Millennium" will air on November 28th, 1999.  The episode is described: "Lance Henriksen guest stars as former FBI agent Frank Black, who is called in to aid Mulder and Scully in an investigation of a series of ritualistic killings, which have been linked to the Millennium Group."  Mark the calenders and clear your evening for that Sunday night!  Frank Black hasn't given up yet!

Video Visions  The most popular question I get asked these days is "Does FOX have any plans to release Millennium on video or DVD?"  The simple answer to this question, unfortunately, is "No."  Only one Millennium video exists (available for purchase at online movie sellers such as Amazon.com or 800.com) and was released by FOX Home Video for rental purposes.  We can only hope that with the success of Millennium's FX syndication FOX will reconsider.  For those fans overseas, Dan Owen's Millennium 2000 website has info on the UK's video releases.

Powerful Second Coming  The FX Network, having been in contact with me here at the Abyss, made some brief statements recently regarding Millennium's second life in syndication.  A representative for FOX cable let us know cable ratings are looking up for the series, stating optimistically, "Millennium is doing very well for us."  On the other hand, questions regarding the possibility of an earlier weeknight timeslot revealed the network currently has no plans beyond the present line-up.  "...the schedule is going to stay as-is for now." Millennium currently airs every night on FX at 1am, Saturday nights at 9pm, and Sundays at 10pm.

Put Carter in the Hot Seat!  Chris Carter will be participating in an online chat this Friday night following the airing of "Leviathan", Harsh Realm's second episode, October 15th at 10:00pm (7:00pm pacific).  To access the chat visit FOX's official Harsh Realm site.  This would be an excellent time to get some info on The X-Files crossover and to get on Carter's case regarding more Millennium.  Let the big guy know, without a doubt, that we still love the "black sheep" of the 1013 family.

Right Back Where We Started From  The ratings are in on the premiere of Harsh Realm, and it looks like FOX wasted a lot of time and money replacing the "struggling" Millennium with a new Carter idea.  Daniel Wood's Harsh Realm VR Jumpstation reports "Unfortunately, the Nielsen ratings weren't what we hoped they would be, barely equalling some of Millennium's old ratings but maybe they will improve after tonight's screening. It had only a 5.4/9 rating share which is about the level that Millennium's episodes were getting when it was canceled."  Well, well, well...  Thanks a million, FOX!  Glad it's all panning out for ya!

Whole New Ballgame  Chris Carter's Harsh Realm premieres tonight!  Although many fans may regard the new series with bitterness for replacing Millennium on the FOX line-up, the show certainly looks and sounds to be one promising piece of television entertainment.  With a fascinating premise and some talented stars, Harsh Realm is definitely set to impress (but, as Millennium learned the hard way in the same Friday night timeslot, high expectations can lead to big failure).  Both Lance Henriksen and Terry O'Quinn will appear in tonight's pilot episode along with Sarah-Jane Redmond (Millennium's Lucy Butler).  Visit the official FOX website or Daniel Wood's impressive Harsh Realm VR Jumpstation for all the details on television's newest 1013 Production.

Site Updates! The Abyss Gallery continues to be uploaded.  A new collection of Abyss original graphics has been added to the site.  Take a look here.

Fasten Seatbelts Sign!  Glen Morgan and James Wong's feature film Flight 180 will be hitting the screens soon, and it looks to be an exciting big screen romp!  The official release date for the film, written by the two former Millennium Executive Producers and directed by Wong, is March 17.  Fans hoping to get a sneak peek at the film should visit The Morgan and Wong Worship Grounds' Flight 180 Page.  The site contains background information, storyboards, bios of the cast, and behind the scenes details.  Take a look and get psyched for the movie!

Site Updates! A new page has been added to the Abyss Gallery section.  You can now peruse an archive of Millennium advertisements run by FOX over the past three years.  Take a look here.  In addition, Matt Asendorf has completed the latest version of the Millennium FAQ and it's fantastic!  All links on the Abyss to the FAQ have now been updated to direct you to Matt's page.  Just look at the depth of material it contains!  A job well done, Matt.

Through the Looking Glass  Apologies, faithful Abyss followers.  America Online has, once again, brought me great annoyance and inconvenience, this time through FTP problems.  The fact that because of AOL's difficulty there has been no Abyss for an entire weekend has prompted me to finally go through with my longstanding idea of creating a mirror site.  As of October 1st I've created a new Tripod mirror site for the Abyss.  In the event of an emergency, this mirror site will become the come.to stand-in.  If there's ever a major site problem, just use http://come.to/abyss to access the Tripod site.  Again, I apologize for any trouble I or AOL have caused.  The mirror site will be constantly accessable at http://millennialabyss.tripod.com/ in case visitors are experiencing any technical difficulties.  The mirror site will be updated less frequently, probably weekly, but is there for your convenience.  Mirror site links will be going up soon.  Thank you.

SEPTEMBER NEWS

September 30th
The Dead Rise Again  It looks as if Brimstone, just like its protagonist Zeke Stone, is going to get a second chance at life!  The former-FOX drama, which once served as a perfect Friday night sidekick to Millennium, was snuffed out by the network a mere 13 episodes into its first season.  Internet supporters of the series seem to have triumphed, however.  The Sci-Fi Channel has bought the rights to Brimstone, which "will make its debut on SCI FI during a December stunt that will feature back-to-back episodes of the series airing between 7-11 p.m. ET. on Dec. 3, 10 and 17."  The series will then join the network's regular primetime line-up sometime in the year 2000.  For all the details visit The Sci-Fi Channel.

Site Updates!  A couple of this site's smaller features were cleaned up in the past 24 hours, most notably the Reality section and the Episode Guide.  The news article on Millennium and TV violence has been spruced up with new formatting and photographs here, the Science Scare section has been relocated here, and you can find older Abyss news briefs saved here in the News section.  Look for some new pages to be added in the next couple days.

As the Crow Flies  Chip Johannessen, one of Millennium's most talented writers and Executive Producer for the third season, is keeping busy despite Millennium's fate.  In addition to being added to The X-Files writing staff for the seventh season we'll get to see Chip's The Crow: Salvation on the big screen early next year.  This third installment in the Crow film series written by Chip will feature actor Eric Mabius (the angel Sammael from Millennium's "Borrowed Time") in the title role.  For news and downloads related to the new movie and the work of these Millennium veterans make sure to visit The Crow's Nest.

From Villain to Villain  We'll be seeing Terry O'Quinn, Millennium's Peter Watts, back in the ol' familiar Friday night 9pm timeslot again real soon.  As most fans will already know, Terry landed the role of Harsh Realm's lead baddie, General Omar Santiago.  With the new show's premiere just a week away, Cinescape Online recently asked the actor three questions regarding his new role.  Take a look at the brief interview here.  Also featured are three questions with O'Quinn's Realm co-star D.B. Sweeney.

Lance Henriksen, Teen Heart Throb  Variety columnist Michael Fleming confirms Lance Henriksen will return to serial killer hunting (albeit in a more laughable manner) as police Detective Carruthers in this winter's trilogy capping Scream 3.  If you'd like to stay on top of all the Scream 3 Lance news be sure to visit his specific section  on The Ultimate Scream Trilogy Site or visit Mirimax's offical Scream 3 site.  It should be amusing to watch ol' Lance back jump back into action in something seemingly childish compared to his work on Millennium.

7 Days a Week!  The FX Network, which is currently the only station licensed to air Millennium in syndication, is apparently quite pleased with the ratings so far.  Starting on October 9th FX is adding a new Millennium timeslot to its schedule.  In addition to the weeknight (1am) showing and the Sunday (10pm) showing, Frank Black's adventures will grace the screen on Saturday nights at 9pm as well.  Fantastic news for all those Millennium fans who have access to FOX's cable network.  The Abyss will make sure to update the Now Showing box on a daily basis so that you can stay on top of the FX episode schedule.

Spread the Word  Amazon.com continues to report better and better news concerning Millennium publications.  While previous reports stated we would have to wait until the year 2000 to see more of Millennium in print, the online bookseller is now announcing that both The Official Millennium Companion (Jane Goldman, 288 pages, $16.00) and the novelization of Weeds (Victor Koman, 256 pages, $5.99) will be published this month, September of 1999.  The publisher's, HarperCollins, website has no information available on either title.  Both books are available for preorder at Amazon.com, just follow the links provided above.

The Frank Files  The long awaited crossover is on its way!  If Chris Carter's recent statements regarding his attempts to return Frank Black to our television sets weren't enough to convince you, the L.A. Times has confirmed it.  Ten-Thirteen is definitely putting together the long awaited crossover episode of The X-Files and Millennium.  Slated for a premiere in late December, Lance Henriksen will guest star as Frank Black alongside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in an episode that ties together plot threads left hanging at Millennium's cancellation.
